In order to keep the profession informed of new developments in the industry, ongoing research is essential. The IFMA Foundation funds worthwhile research projects that strengthen the multifaceted knowledge and skills of FM professionals.

Key research initiatives and areas of focus:

  • Workplace Strategy Summit: The 2017 summit will be held in conjunction with IFMA's World Workplace Europe. Planned for May 29 – June 1 in Stockholm, the 2017 Workplace Strategy Summit will address the latest global workplace trends, leadership changes, as well as the changes occurring in social responsibility; the increased importance of employee well-being; the silo-busting going on in real estate, human resources, information technology, and facility management groups to lead workplace change; new technologies being experimented and deployed for greater productivity and engagement of workplace professionals; and a day in the life of a future ‘placemaker’.    In 2017, presenters will include leading thinkers from the fields of design, facility management, organizational ecology, information technology, human resources and management. The mix of experts, practitioners and academics will provide a wide range of perspectives grounded in the experience of developing and implementing innovative workplace strategies in diverse industries, organizations, and national contexts.
  • Publications: The IFMA Foundation solely or in partnership with IFMA and other sponsors, have underwritten the development of these FM resources in support of the FM profession and those practicing it. Purchase a copy today from the IFMA Bookstore.    
  • Free Whitepapers: The Foundation has underwritten solely or in partnership with sponsors and IFMA the production of various whitepapers on topics of importance to the FM profession. These whitepapers are available at no cost.
  • Sustainability How-To Guide Series: Each guide covers a current sustainability topic. These guides are FREE resources and available for download.
  • International Journal of Facility Management (ijfm): The International Journal of Facility Management content will soon be housed in IFMA's Knowledge Library.
