FM Student Programs



The Foundation supports aspiring and practicing FMs to achieve higher education and make a difference in their profession. Since 1991, the IFMA Foundation, IFMA Chapters, IFMA Councils and the wider FM Community has awarded approximately $1.7 million USD (circa £1.3m) to ​more than 500 FM professionals. This scholarships are open to students globally.

These scholarships change lives for students all over the world and are a principal strategy in creating the next generation of FM professionals

Eligibility requirements for any students:

  • Must be enrolled at an accredited/recognized institution for a Facility Management or related field. “Degree” is determined (Associate, Bachelors or Graduate) as defined by your institution at the time of application submission. 

  • A working student is acceptable

  • Students in the USA must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 in FM or related courses. For students studying outside the U.S.A. use this link, International Grade Equivalencies, to determine the minimum requirement.  
  • Applicants awarded a scholarship are required to attend IFMA’s World Workplace Conference and Exhibition (WW) to be held in Phoenix, Arizona October 15 – 19 in order to receive the scholarship.  Travel and associated expenses are included along with the scholarship award. The award also includes full student registration for the conference and exhibition.
  • Scholarship winners compete in the IginiteFM Student Challenge during World Workplace; divided into teams and are tasked with solving a complex FM problem and asked to present their solution to an audience and judges. The judging is carried out by FM professionals and the winning team receives a financial prize as well as recognition of their presentation.
