Kyung Hee University offers a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in “Property & Facility Management- called PM & FM track”. Our program is offered through the College of Human Ecology, Department of Housing & Interior Design. Our program aims to cultivate competent students with specialized knowledge and practical skills in the fields of built environment.
Kyung Hee University, one of the prestigious universities in South Korea, has a strong tradition of research and teaching in housing and interior design subjects. Our courses represent the full spectrum of the housing and interior design major curriculum: first, training students to become an interior designer, interior coordinator, and furniture designer: second, training students as property and facility managers who will manage multi-family housing and office buildings. In order to accomplish these goals, we provide: 1)courses for students to obtain fundamental knowledge about Housing/building and help them improve their presentation ability in the areas of newly developed techniques for CAD, CAFM and Revit 2)several practical programs for students to directly apply their knowledge into the real world. The aim of the PM & FM track is to support excellence in education and to make leaders in the area of PM & FM.
The department of housing & Interior design provides a special quality of the bachelor’s (established in 1966), master’s (established in 1975) and Ph.D. degree (established in 1982) in the area of built environment. The curriculum deals with the interrelationships between people and housing in multiple dimensions and provides students with such exquisite learning opportunities as extensive curricular activities, internships for acquiring professional experiences in related industries, and international programs for obtaining a variety of advanced experiences in a global era.
PM & FM Track puts its goal to raise specialists that are required in modern society by carrying out systematic curriculums based on the basic theory. Students will learn the necessary skills through lectures ranging from PM & FM theory to individual tasks, group tasks, and solving problems through various hands-on experiences to become a PM & FM industry leader. Topics explored include: Operation and maintenance, project management, real estate finance, real estate development, housing environment & facilities, property management, facility management, FM practices, construction management and etc.
In order to complete the track, students must have 130 credits for graduation, 66 credits for major, and 15 necessary credits for the track at the same time. Students should take 15-18 credits per semester. Required core courses should be taken during the first and second year, which will become the underlying knowledge when learning topics offered by PM & FM track. In particular, “Introduction to Facility Management” course is specified as a required core course so that all students must take this course.
