PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Introduction
The Diploma in Integrated Facility Management focuses on holistic development of a multi-disciplinary professional in facility management (FM) equipped with effective Business and Technical Skills.
The Diploma run here in Singapore is unique as it is the first to offer facility management in the hospitality and aviation industry. It is the first FM diploma world-wide to be accredited in October 2010 by the IFMA Foundation under its Accredited Degree Program. This is a testimonial of the high standard of our Diploma program.
We seek to train para-professionals who will meet the needs of the FM industry specific to the development, operations and management of the hospitality, tourism, aviation, events and convention, resorts and financial services sectors thriving in Singapore. Students will be exposed to many aspects of FM including project management, sustainability, business continuity, operations and management of facilities.
Aligning with master plan for emerging sectors in Singapore which need highly trained personnel to manage and operate built facilities, students in this programme have an option to choose one of two elective clusters:
Hospitality Facilities Elective
Three subjects for this elective are designed to support facility operations at Singapore’s integrated resorts of Resort World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands.
Aviation Facilities Elective
Three subjects focuses on management of building facilities of Singapore’s Changi Airport which had consistently been awarded the world’s best airport.
Throughout the course, students will be constantly exposed to projects and assignments that will prepare them for the world of work. Opportunities will be given for students to win a competitive edge by gaining industry certifications for selected subjects. Similarly, student internships taken as part of the curriculum will expose students to industry practices in Singapore or overseas.
Graduates in this course will have the employment and skill profile to fill challenging positions in both local and global facility management industry for the hospitality, tourism and aviation facilities such as integrated resorts, hotels, shopping malls, events and convention centres, business and financial developments and airports.
In addition, graduates who opt to take the necessary certification examinations will be set on the right path and equipped with the relevant skills to be qualified as (competency-based) certified facility manager (CFM) after gaining the necessary work experience.
In summary, the Integrated Facility Management Diploma provides comprehensive training to build up the necessary knowledge and skills of our student to venture into the rewarding world of FM.
