PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Department of Construction Science at Texas A&M University offers an undergraduate minor in Facility Management. The program has been officially included in the University Catalog since the 2013/14 Academic Year.
Any student applying for the minor in Facility Management must complete at least 18 credit-hours of coursework, out of which at least 6 credit hours must be taken in classes at the 300 or 400 levels. Successful completion of the minor in Facility Management includes two required classes (COSC 450 and COSC 474,) and one more class from each of the four Knowledge Domains (4 additional classes). At least 6 credit-hours out of the total 18 must be taken from outside of the student’s major area of study. The Facility Management Internship class (COSC 474) requires that the students works for a minimum period of 10 weeks, 40 hours per week (equivalent for a full-time employee), in a facility management-approved setting. No other classes (except online/distant education) are allowed to be taken during the time the student is enrolled in his/her facility management internship.
Upon successful completion of the coursework as stated above, the minor in Facility Management is added to the student’s final transcript, once graduating from Texas A&M University.
