PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Facilities Management program is offered as an emphasis within Construction Management, in the College of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology. The curriculum includes courses in FM, as well as construction management, with a significant requirement for satisfactory completion of classes in business management and human resource management, along with traditional general education requirements. It is a four year program.
FM courses include studies in energy management, environmental issues, technology in FM, space planning and management, ADA, long range fiscal planning, organizational stewardship, leadership and communication. There is a requirement for completion of a capstone project, requiring students to work as a team to complete a
defined, challenging FM problem in “the real world.”
All FM courses are hybrid in format. The face-to-face discussions all occur in the evening, making the curriculum attractive to non-traditional students. Facilities management and construction management courses are offered exclusively at the Davis campus, conveniently located a short distance east of Interstate 15.
